Hot Springs' infamous downtown "Bottleneck" courtesy of our current city manager, mayor, and board

Wait a minute or so for the pictures to load if you have a slower PC. There are a lot of pictures.
Who needs sidewalks this wide? Why 4-lane roadways? Higdon Ferry is doing fine as a 2-lane isn't it?
Hey Guys, if we block off half of Ouachita, we can get a whole bunch more parking spaces for our buddies.
That brick sidewalk and waterfall sure would have been a good place for a street to the parking garage.
Hey, they want more lanes. We'll give them more lanes, just not in front of our buddies' businesses.
Maybe a few more traffic lights will make the traffic flow smoother and better, don't you think?
That looks much better now with the concrete barricades, right? Mr. Mallet, tear down this wall !!
Even the 1900 design had 4-lanes with no parking. Of course, the center lane was mostly for trolleys. There is one picture that really pretty much says it all but we do not have permission to reprint that picture. You can however, click here or link to the front page picture on the Sentinel Record on May 31, 2006. The picture is of one of the over 40 accidents in the bottleneck which began almost immediately following the installation of the bottleneck proposed by our city manager and approved by our city board. As usual, the modifications were proposed by individuals who are not traffic planners or engineers and again, no one bothered to ask for input from trained professionals which include our police, fire, EMS, and county sheriffs department. The above photos were obviously taken at various times during different lighting conditions. Note that some photos are not perfectly focused due to attempts not to show details such as license plate numbers, etc. Send us your photos in any format.
